Playstation 3 vs Xbox 360

A Buyers Guide

Nearly every gamer has heard the lengthy debates from avid fans about which console is better. However these arguments can become quite biased generally favouring the gamer’s preferred choice of console which generally leaves us wondering which console is actually better. To be honest, the answer is completely subjective and depends upon what you are seeking as a gamer. Here we will attempt to list the pros and cons of both consoles so that you may have some insight into making an informed decision as to which console you think may be more suited to you.

Playstation 3

Features

  • Blue-Ray Capabilities
  • Glass Coated Disks

If you’re prone to scratching your games then the Playstation 3 may be the console for you. The disks feature a glass coating which means that they are more durable and less prone to scratches and damage.

  • Free-to-Play Multiplayer

The fact that the multiplayer is free-to-play is excellent for those who just want to experience what the multiplayer is like without getting too attached. The only downside with the free-to-play multiplayer is that there are a lot of other players who can be quite undesirable at times; it’s sort of a Catch 22 really.

  • PS3 only titles: God of War, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Killzone etc.

Xbox 360

Features

  • Foxtel

An interesting feature is that you can receive through the Xbox is Foxtel, which also works out to be a bit cheaper than what you would find if you were purchasing your subscription separately.

  • Paid Multiplayer

If you’re serious about multiplayer play then the Xbox 360 may be the better option for you. This is because the general skills and commitment of the other players are generally higher than what you would find on the Playstation, after all they’re paying for the subscription too!

  • Xbox 360 only titles: Halo, Gears of War etc.
